A grand live oak does the heavy lifting.

The ceremony lawn sits west of the barn under a sprawling twin-trunked live oak — one of the survivors of the oak wilt the land was fighting when Janet and Chris found it. The canopy holds dozens of seats in shade; the rest spill onto the meadow grass.

No arch necessary. Couples who do bring one usually bring something minimal — a wooden frame, a hoop, a swag of cedar. The tree is the backdrop.

The barn itself — restored, not rebuilt.

We kept the bones. The corrugated steel, the wide center aisle, the cross-beams. Then we poured concrete, replaced the roof, ran new electrical, and strung the lights. The result feels nineteen-eighty in the right ways and twenty-twenty in the right ways.

Acoustically warm. Visually quiet. Photographs cleanly in any light.

The bridal suite, in plain English.

Climate-controlled. Couch. Mirror lit well enough for makeup. Hooks for dresses. A small fridge. A bathroom of its own. Big enough for a wedding party of ten to get ready without bumping elbows.

The groom's room is a smaller space behind the barn — couch, mirror, mini-fridge, separate entrance.
